Sharing the Harvest
Fresh cut flowers, herbs and jams are great gifts. Who doesn’t love to be invited for a homemade meal or picnic with fresh produce.? Our friends and family are celebrating our food gardens with us! For recipes and for ways to cook with leftovers and create preserves, the internet offers great ideas. Don’t let anything go to waste!
Even in western countries and in affluent communities food insecurity can be a big issue. If you have a good harvest consider donating to a local food bank, a senior center or a veterans organization. A local church will be able to direct you to the right collection centers. Most of them are delighted to accept fresh produce.
